Andrés Gluski was named President and CEO of The AES Corporation in 2011. Under his leadership, AES became one of the leading renewables and clean technologies companies in the world. According to Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), in both 2021 and 2022, AES signed more contracts with corporations for renewable energy than anyone else on the globe. AES' record for innovation has been recognized by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) with a record seven Edison Awards and Fluence, AES' joint venture with Siemens, has consistently been named the #1 grid scale energy storage integrator.
AES established an aggressive carbon reduction strategy in 2018, making AES the first publicly traded US energy company to issue a climate report that complies with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). In addition, AES announced our intent to exit coal by 2025 and reach net zero carbon emissions from electricity generation by 2040.

Andrés serves as Chairman of the Council of the Americas/Americas Society and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of EEI. He is also on the Board of Waste Management and the US-India and US-Brazil CEO Forums. He earned his master’s degree and PhD in Economics from the University of Virginia.
