Together with communities in Massachusetts, New York, and Illinois
New York, Massachusetts, and Illinois needed a reliable, accessible and affordable solution within their communities to achieve each of the states’ ambitious sustainability goals. We provided a 215 MW portfolio of community solar energy projects, providing clean energy access to schools, utilities, municipalities and businesses across the local communities.
Together with Southern California Edison (SCE)
When SCE selected AES to provide 100 MW of interconnected energy storage, batteries won against natural gas, illustrating just how viable and useful energy storage has become, and SCE’s leadership in recognizing this value. For the first time in history, The AES Alamitos Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)demonstrated that battery energy storage systems could meet large local capacity needs.
Together with Google
In September 2020, Google announced its world-leading goal to operate on 100% carbon-free energy by 2030. However, Google set this goal knowing that a 24/7 carbon-free energy solution, where carbon-free resources power every hour of every day, didn’t yet exist. AES and Google partnered to develop a first-of-its-kind 24/7 carbon-free energy solution where AES will supply Google’s Virginia data center campus with 100% clean energy day and night.
Together with Microsoft
When Microsoft needed a partner to meet its commitment to transform its operations and create a cleaner cloud, they put their trust in AES. Through the partnership, Microsoft purchased 315 MWac of solar energy from our projects in Virginia, representing the single largest corporate purchase of solar energy in the United States at the time.
Together with Anheuser-Busch
Anheuser-Busch produces 3 million cases of beverages per year using solar electricity as a result of our partnership in developing an on-site generation solution.
Together with Kauai Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) and the U.S. Navy
Energy reliability, security and resiliency are critical for KIUC and the U.S. Navy. Together, we co-created a first-of-its-kind clean energy microgrid located on the U.S. Navy’s land, which also supports KIUC’s local grid during everyday operation.
